National Federation of Music Clubs 2013 Junior Festival

The 29th annual South Carolina Northwestern District III of the National Federation of Music Clubs held its Junior Festival on Saturday, March 2 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley.

Seven local piano teachers entered over 100 students to be judged by music professionals. The Junior Festival program is designed to promote study and stimulate interest in American and world music literature and to encourage participation to reach a high standard of musical achievement. Students perform and receive evaluation in a non-competitive setting.

The following students were selected to represent the Easley area in the South Carolina State Recital at the Junior Convention to be held in June in Greenville in conjunction with the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Convention.

Representatives:

Grace Chen, daughter Liang Chen and Heather Chen, and Mr. & Mrs. Bob (Diane) Owen, is a student of Gilda Hendricks and a 7th grade student at Connections Academy.

Hannah Brantley, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Randy (Pam) Brantley, is a 9th grade student at Artios Academy and a student of Gilda Hendricks.

Sabrina Stewart, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Phil Stewart is a 6th grade student at Pickens Middle School and a student of Helen Batson.

Alternate Representatives:

Erin Batson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Keith (Betts) Batson is a 10th grade student

at Wren High School and a student of Judy Granger.

Lydia Nalley is an 8th grade student at Pickens Middle School and the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Gerald (Wanda) Nalley.

Ashlyn Tollison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Renee) Tollison is in the 6th grade at Gettys Middle School and a student of Gilda Hendricks.

Honorable Mention

Ben Eller, student of Helen Batson, is the son of Mr. & Mrs. David (DeeDee) Eller

and is in the 10th grade at Pickens High School

Amy Looper, is a 10th grade homeschool student and the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James (Tamala) Looper.

Ryan Nalley is a 6th grade student at Pickens Middle School and the son of Mr. & Mrs. Gerald (Wanda) Nalley.
