PICKENS COUNTY—Jennifer Willis will be celebrating a fourth term on Pickens County Council after winning the unofficial general election tally Tuesday night.

Willis, who represents Easley as the district five-seat representative on the council, said she is honored to continue as chairman.

“It’s an honor,” said Willis. “I am thrilled to be elected and to be able to represent Easley again. This will be my fourth term that I will start in January, and I recognize how huge that is for the voters to continue to put their trust in me.”

Willis finished with a total 5,349 votes, while Christopher Bowers earned 2,546 votes with 15 of 17 precincts reporting.

“I am so proud of Easley and the opportunity to represent it as one of the cornerstones of the county,” Willis said. “It’s a unique community with a great sense of identity and pride.

We have phenomenal assets in terms of proximity to beautiful natural resources, a low tax base and amazing schools,” she continued. “There are just so many things that make Easley a great place to live and raise a family.”

Willis said she hopes the council can move forward in progressing economic growth in Pickens County.

“My goal is to have careful management of our resources in terms of taxes and managing the budget,” Willis said. “We want to keep taxes low while continuing to focus on economic development. We want to continue to bring jobs to Pickens County for our citizens, and to add to our tax base.”

The tally will be official Friday morning once fail-safe and provisional ballots are accounted for.
