Robert Folkman will begin working as building program administrator in early July, according to district officials.
Superintendent Henry Hunt introduced Folkman at Monday night’s school board meeting.
“We are fortunate to have Mr. Folkman on board at this time,” he said. “He has extensive experience in school construction, both new construction and renovations.
“His most recent experience as senior project manager for construction of two new high schools in Georgia will be a definite asset as he takes the reins of our facilities plan,” Hunt said.
Folkman is currently a senior project manager with JCI General Contractors, Inc. in Moultrie, Ga. and has worked in the construction industry since 1971.
He has worked on a number of primary and secondary schools, according to Hunt.
Folkman also has extensive experience with federal, state and local projects, as well as private and residential projects, according to Julie Thompson, a spokesperson for the school district.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Clemson University.
Folkman is taking the place of Reggie Hall, who retired at the end of February.
Dr. Mendel Stewart, who served as interim superintendent, was in charge of overseeing the program until Hall’s replacement was found, according to Thompson.
