PICKENS — Nikki Miller has been named the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year for the School District of Pickens County and Jennifer Ohlrogge has been named the 2014-2015 Support Employee of the Year
Miller is a reading coach at Pickens Elementary School.
“She realizes that her mission is to make an impact on all students, and not just the ones she teaches,” said Allen Fain, Pickens Elementary School principal. “It’s her goal to help other teachers develop their craft, and many times throughout the year other teachers have requested to visit her in order to learn something new.”
Ohlrogge is the ISS Instructor at Gettys Middle School.
Pat Snider, assistant principal at Gettys wrote in her recommendation for Jennifer: “Her selection as our employee of the year was not by accident, but instead an overwhelming affirmation by the staff as a whole. As a cancer survivor with a zest for life, Jennifer is one of the most positive people I have ever known.”
A cash prize of $500 is awarded to the teacher of the year, and a prize of $250 goes to the Support Employee of the year. The prizes were sponsored by Southern Wesleyan University. SWU president Dr. Todd Voss delivered the keynote address at this year’s Back To School Celebration.
