PICKENS — The Pickens County Library System is holding a poetry contest in celebration of National Poetry Month in April.
Entries will be accepted from March 1 through March 31, and can be turned in at any Pickens County Library branch. Categories are children (up to age 11), teens (ages 12-18), and adults (ages 19 and up).
Only one entry per person is permitted. Entries can be no longer than one page, but can be composed in any form (free verse, rhymed verse, limerick, sonnet, haiku, etc.).
K.G. McAbee, an award-winning author of over a dozen novels and nearly 100 shorts, will select a winner from each category. Winner will be announced at 2 p.m. April 12 at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley.
Each entry must include the author’s name, age, and contact information (phone number, address, and/or email address). Entries missing information or received after March 31 will be removed from the contest. Anyone who submits more than one entry will have all of their entries removed.
Call the library at 850-7077 for more information.
