Robotics kicks-off at Anderson Career Center
ANDERSON COUNTY — The Anderson Districts I & II Career & Technology Center Project Lead the Way Program’s VEX Robotics teams RECENTLY began their competition season.
This year the program is fielding four teams including one all-female team. The teams will be designing, building, and programming robots to compete in this year’s VEX “Toss Up” competition. The teams will be competing against other teams from across the state at regional qualifiers in an effort to earn a spot at the Palmetto State VEX Championship in March. The school also has plans to host one of these qualifying events in December.
The teams are comprised of students from Belton-Honea Path High School, Palmetto High School, Powdersville High School, and Wren High School. The program is sponsored by ACTC as well as a grant from the WebbCraft Family Foundation of Belton, SC.
ACTC PLTW Instructors serving as team mentors are: Bryan Bacher, James Davis, Trevor Hollingsworth, Lisa Lennon, and Sean McCullough. Former ACTC PLTW students currently studying engineering at area colleges who are serving as mentors to the teams this season are: Carolyn Lennon, Kirtan Patel, Stephen Roberts, and Robert Sequerth.
