WALHALLA – Two people were charged in connection with a weekend incident that led to the death of a 21-year-old North Carolina man early Saturday morning, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to investigators, deputies responded to West Cherry Road near the intersection of JP Stevens Road in reference to a reported gunshot victim around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

There, they found 21-year-old Rashean N. Parker II of Gastonia, N.C., on the ground outside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the right side.

He was taken to Oconee Medical Center, where he later died, said Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis. Parker was formerly from Pendleton.

Octavis Jamal Robinson, 17, of 1146 Old Central Road in Central, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter on Saturday and was charged Sunday with attempted armed robbery, possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime, and attempted murder.

According to investigators, Robinson attempted to carry away belongings of two individuals from a JP Stevens Road address while armed with a handgun. Investigators said Robinson shot Parker in the back area with a handgun while fleeing in an automobile after the robbery attempt.

Robinson is also accused of possessing a handgun during the robbery attempt and trying to kill one of the individuals during the attempted armed robbery by placing the gun in the victim’s face and pulling the trigger. According to investigators, the gun misfired.

Tavis Savon Campbell, 19, of 108 Vista Drive in Clemson, was charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime during the incident.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
