PICKENS COUNTY – Moms and dads in need of a babysitter will soon get their chance when the Pickens County YMCA hosts a Parents Night Out.
“Parent Night Out was designed to do just that, to give parents a night off,” said YMCA CEO, Sid Collins. “Parents often make arrangements for baby sitting through friends and family but the Y’s Parents Night Out gives your child an opportunity to have a lot of fun instead of being at home, plus it’s a lot cheaper than a baby sitter.”
The event will take place on Sept. 27, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the YMCA facility located at 201 Burns Road.
“If you are looking for something for your children to do while you enjoy a night out then why not let the Pickens County YMCA provide a safe and fun place for your kids to stay while staying within your budget,” said Christy Stancil of the Pickens County YMCA. “Your kids will enjoy a pizza dinner as well as great activities.”
According to the Pickens County YMCA, Parents Night Out is offered throughout the year and features a variety of activities for children to enjoy.
“Parent’s night out for the kids is doing something fun on a Friday night, bonfire, roasting marshmallows, and playing games,” said Jennifer Barker, YMCA Child care Director. “For the parents, it’s being able to take some time to reconnect with the adult world while trusting that their children are being cared for by experienced counselors while having a great time.”
Collins said Parents Night Out also provided a great opportunity for married couples to reconnect.
“While some parents take advantage of Parents Night Out for a reprieve or take the opportunity to get things done, I want to encourage parents to take advantage of the program for a different reason,” he said. “For those who are married, take advantage of Parents Night Out to reconnect with your spouse.
“Dating your wife is a critical piece to a healthy marriage. Just as you spend time talking to God, spend time just talking to your wife without the kids running around. Pursue her just like you did when dating. Take some time to plan your date and let the YMCA be your baby sitter for the night. Your kids will have a blast and your relationship with your wife can move in a positive direction.”
