LaGrange police arrested four people that were allegedly involved in a shoplifting scheme where nearly $700 worth of items were taken from the CVS on Hogansville Road, Walmart, Fred’s and Dollar Tree Tuesday.
According to a police report,around 12:43 p.m., officers responded to CVS in the 1500 block of Hogansville Road in response to shoplifting.
The officers spoke with the store manager, who stated that around 12:15 p.m. he observed three black females, a small child and a black male dressed as a female enter the store. The manager stated that he observed on security cameras the subjects filling up the shopping cart with merchandise, which he estimated to be about $300 worth. The black male then distracted the store manager as the other shoplifters left the store with the merchandise.
The report said that the officers used the security camera tape to help identify the four shoplifters. The first female, later identified as Latoya Harden, 28, of LaGrange, was thin with light colored skin with a plaid top or jacket, jeans and brown boots and driving a blue Toyota Camry. The second female, later identified as Quanesha Bruce, 24, of LaGrange, was wearing a black T-shirt with bright lettering in front was riding with Harden in the Camry. She had a small child with her.
The third female, later identified as Crystal Crowley, 34, of LaGrange, was wearing a blue jacket and driving a white Mercedes Benz. The male was identified as Jewell Harrison, 38, of LaGrange, who had long red hair and a red jacket.
The report said that officers were able to locate the matching description of the Toyota Camry on Lukken Industrial Drive and Langley Place, where they conducted a traffic stop. The driver and passenger matched the description of Harden and Bruce, as well as some merchandise in the back seat that neither were able to produce a receipt for. Harden and Bruce were charged with shoplifting.
According to a different report, officers were able to make contact with the white Mercedes Benz that matched the identity of the one at the CVS. Officers proceeded to make a traffic stop on Lafayette Parkway near Union Street, where they arrested Crowley and Harrison and charged them with theft by receiving for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart, Dollar Tree and Fred’s as well as shoplifting from CVS.
The report said that officers were able to locate several plastic bags of merchandise in the rear seat of the vehicle, as well as multiple clothing items located in the trunk that appeared to have been stolen from Walmart.
They were able to determine that over $500 of merchandise was stolen from Walmart, $38.90 worth of goods was stolen from Fred’s, $13 was stolen from the Dollar Tree and $123.01 was stolen from CVS.
All the stolen items were returned.
