ANDERSON — Anderson County Sheriff’s investigators charged David Eric Cole Jones, 31, with armed robbery after he gave a note to a Walgreen’s Pharmacy employee, demanding he be given Oxycontin.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Jones went into the Walgreen’s located at 109 S.C. 28 Bypass around 9 a.m. Tuesday. He gave the note to the pharmacist and insinuated he had a weapon.
The pharmacist gave Jones a few bottles of the Schedule II controlled substance and Jones fled the scene on foot.
The sheriff’s helicopter responded to the area and began a systematic search for Jones. A Canine Team also responded and located Jones hiding in a wooded area next to the incident location.
Jones was taken into custody and transferred to AnMed Hospital due to his apparent ingestion of an unknown amount of the stolen drugs. He is being kept under guard. At this time, no information is available regarding when he will be released from the hospital.
