It was perfect day to play a little ball and while the festivities began to ramp up at Clemsonfe

Most everyone at Clemsonfest enjoyed a bite of something although it was usually food related. Maybe a Frisbee does taste better than BBQ.

Chairs, blankets, or the ground — it didn’t make a difference as the crowd settled in for some fun.

Not sure what he was expecting to come out of the bag but he enjoyed that burger more than you think.

For those with an affinity for BBQ and grilled corn, there was plenty to be had.

Nothing says summer like iced watermelon to cool off on a hot July day.

The corn isn’t quite ready to pop but it was popular at Clemsonfest straight off the grill.

Flags were everywhere — even in a few lemonades.

The kids had a blast as they had more than enough to keep them occupied.

It seemed being patriotic was the way to go at Clemsonfest as many showed up in their best star spangled finery.

Even the smallest American was proud to celebrate the birth of our nation.

CLEMSON — Although Independence Day was still a few days off that didn’t seem to slow down the city of Clemson as residents and visitors came out to celebrate Clemsonfest 2016 on July 2.

The event was presented by the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce.

With the sun beginning to set as the music carried listeners into the early evening, nothing but beach music — a staple in South Carolina — inspired many to shake a tail feather and shag to the tunes of Carolina Coast.

Jump houses and inflatable obstacle courses, along with blow up toys kept the kids entertained as they romped, played, and laughed their way through the night. Along with plenty of wide open space to frolic, there were also plenty of playmates to romp with.

For the adults of the crowd, the laughs and smiles weren’t in short shrift, not to mention the staple for any festival — delicious food.

Pizza, burgers, chicken, fries, and sweets were the fare and there was hardly one attendee who didn’t partake in something even if it was only something to cool off. When all was said and done, the kryptonite for nearly all Southerners was the coup de grace — funnel cake.
