PICKENS COUNTY — A carjacking in Pickens County on Wednesday morning resulted in two quick arrests and charges following the incident.
Jonathan Charles Bridges, 39, of Easley and Billi Joe Garrett, 39, of Travelers Rest were arrested June 22 following the incident and were being held on bond Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Bridges and Garrett asked the victim for a ride and said that Garrett was pregnant.
The victim gave the two a ride to Waverly Drive in Pickens where Bridges pulled a knife and forced the victim from the car and drove away.
According to an incident report the victim was left standing on the roadside with all possessions still in the vehicle. Based on early information available, the victim was not injured.
An unspecified amount of time later Bridges and Garrett attempted to use the victim’s debit card at a Greenville County convenience store, which was reported, leading to their arrest.
The two have been charged with carjacking and grand larceny in Pickens County. Bridges has a charge of use of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and Garrett has an additional charge of aiding and abetting.
The aiding and abetting charge Garrett is facing is due to Bridges’ outstanding charges in Greenville County.
Since April 19, Bridges has charges pending in Greenville County for giving false information to a police officer, open container, driving under suspension, felony DUI with great bodily injury, forgery of less than $10,000, escape, grand larceny over $10,000, conspiracy, and fraud less than $2,000.
