EASLEY — Brittany Wyatt, an advertising sales representative for The Easley Progress and The Pickens Sentinel, was named Ambassador of the Month by the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.
Wyatt, who has been a chamber member only for a month, was stunned at the announcement.
“Did you know? Did you know?” she demanded of everyone sitting around her after she got her voice back and blinked a few times. “Oh, my goodness.”
Wyatt began working at The Progress and The Sentinel on April 11. Her first Chamber meeting was just a few day later.
“Joining the Chamber was one of the first things I did, it just makes sense,” she said. “We go out and we welcome new businesses to the community. We attend grand openings, ribbon cuttings, things like that. It’s a way for local businesses to be involved in the community.”
Wyatt moved to Easley seven years ago from Elizabeth City, N.C., with her family. She graduated from Easley High School in 2011 and graduated from Tri-County Technical College in 2013 with an Associates in Applied Science. She is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient and was awarded the Leadership Purple Heart in ROTC.
When asked if she was going for two months in a row, Wyatt laughed.
“I’m going to shoot for Ambassador of the Year. That’s my goal now,” she said. “Well, I was not expecting to get it my first month and I was surprised to have received it, but I was very honored that they chose me.”
But now that she has won it, she’s angling for a new title at the papers: “You can call me ‘Madam Ambassador’ now,” Wyatt joked.
