March for Babies draws crowd in Easley

The March of Dimes is one of the most successful and well-known non-profit foundations in the United States. It was originally founded to fight polio but after the disease was nearly eradicated by vaccinations, the healthy charity instead turned its efforts to eradicating birth defects.

EASLEY — Hundreds of people took to the streets in the annual March of Dimes March for Babies this past Saturday in Old Market Square.

The six-mile course wound its way throughout the downtown area of Easley with the ultimate goal of raising $150,000 to help secure the futures for prematurely born babies.

The total for this year’s march was $125,000, money that will go toward helping mothers everywhere achieve full term pregnancies and deliver healthy babies.
