PICKENS COUNTY — A group of Pickens residents began a discussion in September 2015 about bringing Pickens County’s communities together in prayer after they grew concerned about recent events in major cities, the growing likelihood of violence in neighborhoods, and distrust among neighbors.
An estimated 75 to 100 citizens came together in October to pray for Pickens and its residents. From this event held at Legacy Square comes a continued call for concerned residents to gather for prayer.
At 4 p.m. March 17 in Legacy Square, a time of community prayer will be held for the children of the area as well as their parents and guardians.
All are invited to come and join in prayer for protection and guidance. No speeches are planned and there will be no political agenda presented. Prayer can be verbal or silent.
The group is seeking of unity in the community for the encouragement and development of youth. There is a common chorus as parents, children, neighbors, businesses, schools, law enforcement, and churches stand together in prayer.
