PICKENS COUNTY — The Education Foundation of Pickens County has named a Pickens County student its winner in the Foundation’s logo contest.
Jessica Marhanka, a junior at Pickens High School, submitted the winning design, which was unveiled at Pickens High School on Feb. 18.
“Jessica submitted several designs that caught the eye of our board for their creativity,” said Wendy Helmendach, chairwoman of the EFPC. “After she submitted a concept that captured the spirit of our foundation, Jessica was terrific about working with us to get a final design. Both her artistic ability and her professionalism set her apart.”
Marhanka received a free Chromebook, which was chosen as it not only is a tool useful for entertainment but will be of great assistance in Marhanka’s academic career.
The Education Foundation of Pickens County is a new 501c(3) corporation dedicated to supporting the mission and educational goals of Pickens County public schools. The organization raises funds to enhance educational experiences and academic excellence across the county.
“Our foundation is in the earliest stages of fundraising, and right now we are focused on raising awareness of our mission in the community. Having a recognizable logo is one of the first steps toward making our presence known,” Helmendach said.
Those interested in becoming involved with the foundation are encouraged to email PCEFboard@gmail.com to inquire about donations, membership, or involvement on the foundation board.
