LIBERTY — A 56-year-old Liberty man was arrested June 10 on charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted a minor at his home over a period of five months.
Ronny Larkin Banks, of 624 Mauldin Lake Road in Liberty, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, a charge that stems from a separate incident.
The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office initiated the investigation on May 15.
PCSO officials said the in-depth investigation revealed a minor child under the age of 11 was repeatedly sexually assaulted by Banks at his home between November 2014 and April 2015. The victim was not related to Banks.
The drug charges pending against Banks stem from an April 15 incident in which he was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and paraphernalia routinely associated with the distribution of methamphetamine.
Arrest warrants said Banks was in possession of more than one gram but less than 10 grams of methamphetamine at the time of the April 15 incident.
Banks is being held without bond in the Pickens County Detention Center until an appearance before a General Sessions judge.
