Ward 5 run-off set for Nov. 17

EASLEY — The Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County has ordered that a runoff election be held for the City of Easley Ward 5 race. The runoff election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the same voting locations used for the original Nov. 3 election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The following office and candidates will appear on the ballots:

Easley City Council Ward 5

Bob Fedder

Thomas H Wright

Voters are not allowed to write-in other candidates on runoff ballots. Neither of the candidates received a majority of the votes required to win the election. Majority is defined as more than half the votes cast for the office.

All registered voters living both inside the incorporated city limits of Easley and inside the boundaries of City Council Ward 5 are eligible to vote in this election. Eligible voters can vote in the runoff regardless if they voted in the original election on Nov. 3. The original voter registration deadline of Oct. 3 applies to this runoff election.

All voters will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs at his or her polling place Nov. 17:

• Driver’s License

• ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles

• Voter Registration Card with Photo

• Federal Military ID (includes VA Benefits Card)

• Passport

Those who do not have a photo ID will need to get one before they can vote. Free Photo IDs are available at the DMV and at the Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County Office.

If you cannot get a photo ID, bring your non-photo voter registration card with you to the polls. You will be allowed to vote after signing an affidavit stating you have a reasonable impediment to obtaining photo ID. The reasonable impediment could be a religious objection to being photographed, a disability or illness, your work schedule, lack of transportation or any other obstacle you find reasonable.

If you forget to bring your ID with you to vote, you can vote a provisional ballot that will not count unless you show Photo ID to the county election commission prior to certification of the election.

The processing of absentee ballots will begin at 9 a.m. Nov. 17, in the Office of the Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County inside the Pickens County Administration Facility, 222 McDaniel Ave. in Pickens.

The provisional ballot hearing and canvass for this municipal election will be held Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. in the Office of the Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County, 222 McDaniel Ave. in Pickens.

Registered electors who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballot application requests can be made by going to http://pickenselections.org/

Absentee ballot application requests can also be made by calling 864-898-5948 or 864-898-5949, sending an email to elections@co.pickens.sc.us, or by coming in-person to the Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County in the Administrative Facility, 222 McDaniel Ave. in Pickens.

• 140: Easley — Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 601 S. Pendleton St.

• 141: Forest Acres — Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 601 S. Pendleton St.

• 148: McKissick — Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 601 S. Pendleton St.

• 157: Fruit Mountain — Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Ave.
